The topic has been carefully and intentionally chosen to make you understand that ‘going on a date’ does not explicitly imply the inclusion of another individual. Since childhood, we have build up our thoughts based on what we saw and started believing in them without being inquisitive enough. As a normal individual (here normal means who is bound and trapped by societal norms), we have not yet weaved the concept of dating ourselves into the flow of our thoughts. So yes, it will be wierd at the first instance of discussion.
